Tips for the Traveler
Visas : A valid passport and a return ticket are required for stays of up to one month
Health risks: The local water is quite palatable. Most reputable restaurants now serve bottled water, and elsewhere there is little problem. Use your discretion, however, in drinking the water served in out-of-the-way places (especially if from a communal cup).
Time: Hong Kong time is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich mean time (GMT) and London, or 7 hours ahead of Berlin and Paris, 14 hours ahead of New York, 1 hour behind Tokyo, and 2 hours behind Sydney.
Electricity: Current is 220 volts AC, 50 Hz. Electric outlets accommodate three round prongs. Travelers who wish to operate personal small electric items should bring a plug-adapter kit, and, if needed, a 110 volt transformer.
Weights & Measures:  Weights and measures are expressed with the metric system, with traditional Chinese variations.
Tourism: There is no place quite like Hong Kong on this earth. As a destination, Hong Kong sells itself through contented shoppers, sightseers, and gourmands, who return home extolling the experience of a few days spent in frantic pursuit of pleasures around the perimeter of the world's most exciting harbor.
