Tips for the Traveler
Visas : A valid passport is required for stays of up to three months.
Health risks: There are no high risks in going to visit Italy
Time: Italy is in the central European time zone—1 hour ahead of Greenwich mean time. That means Italy operates on the same time as Munich, Madrid, and Paris. Italy is 6 hours ahead of Montreal and New York, 9 hours behind Sydney, and 8 hours behind Tokyo. Daylight saving time is in effect from late March to late September, during which time the clocks are advanced 1 hour.
Electricity: Italian electrical current is 220 volts, 50 Hz. Plugs are Continental-style, with two round pins.
Weights & Measures:  The metric system is standard throughout the country.
  Tourism: Pisa
Naturally, any first-time visitor must run to see its legendary Leaning Tower, venerable Duomo, baptistery, and exquisite Gothic church by Nicola Pisano. You can take in a lot very quickly here, because the main sights are highly concentrated in one central area.
