Tips for the Traveler
  Visas : Passports should be valid for 3 months from your intended date of arrival. South African nationals require a visa.
  Health issues and risks:  No major risks.
  Time: Part of the Central European Time Zone (GMT+1). Daylight savings applies from late March to late October.
  Electricity: 220V, 50 Hz. Hotels may have 110V or 120V outlets for shavers though power converters are advised. Adapters needed for two-prong and round-prong plugs.

  Capital city:: Amsterdam
  People:  99% of the population are Dutch, with the other 1% mainly from the Netherland Antilles and former colony of Surinam.
  Climate: A mild climate, with a possibility of rainfall throughout the year. This exempts the cold weather snaps between December and February. Summers generally warm, but can be changeable.
  Language: Dutch is the official language although Netherlandic is spoken in some communities. English is widely spoken.
  Religion: Roman Catholic 34%, Protestant 25%, Muslim 3%, other 2%, unaffiliated 36%
  Government:  Constitutional monarchy.
Helpful Tidbits...
  The Netherlands is quite small therefore public transport is very efficient and cheap.
  Exchange rates vary greatly between various exchange bureaus so shop around.
  Most shops and banks are open for late Thursday and Friday night shopping.
  The tulips are in bloom from mid-April to mid-May.
