Tidbits... |
 |
Tipping to acknowledge services
received is at the discretion of the traveler. |
 |
Don't advertise your wealth or
tourist status - moon bags and dangling cameras are a
dead giveaway. |
 |
Telephone services are generally
unreliable so make calls short and to the point. |
 |
Malaria risk, predominantly in the
malignant falciparum form, exists all year
throughout the country, even in urban areas, and is
reported to be resistant to chloroquine and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine.
|
 |
Only swimming pools which are well-chlorinated
and maintained are safe due to insect and water-borne
disease. |
 |
Full health insurance is essential
and should include medical evacuation insurance. Visitors
should travel with their own supply of remedies for
simple ailments such as stomach upsets, as pharmaceutical
supplies are usually extremely difficult to obtain. |
