Tips for the Traveler
  Visas : Passports should be valid for a minimum of 6 months from your date of arrival. If your staying for under 30 days, you don't need a visa. A tourist visa lasts for 60 days and costs $15 and non-immigrant visas last for 90 days and cost around $20.
  Health issue and risks: Cholera, dengue fever, diphtheria, dysentery, Japanese encephalitis, hepatitis A and B, malaria, polio, tetanus and typhoid. A yellow fever certificate is required if you are traveling from an infected area. The Australian, UK and US embassies have lists of English-speaking doctors. Tap water is unsafe to drink. Bottled water is advisable.

  Electricity: 220V, 50Hz. A variety of plugs are used.

  People:  Ethnic divisions: 75% Thai, 14% Chinese, 11% other. Some 80% of all Thai are connected in some way to agriculture, which musters a distinct quality to the kingdom.
  Climate:  Hot and humid in April, followed by monsoons from May to November. It is cooler and drier (and much more pleasant to visit) from November to March.
  Language: Thai, English, Malay and Chinese.
  Religion: Buddhist. Muslim minority.
  Government: Constitutional monarchy
Helpful Tidbits...
  The cost of living outside Bangkok is cheaper so try to get out if you are planning a long stay.
  Bargains are waiting to found, especially in silver, bronze, lacquer ware and wood carvings.
  Seafood is quite cheap, so try to make a point of trying some.
  It is usual to tip, though watch for service charges on restaurant bills.
  Many social and religious taboos exist so do a bit of research before you go.
